Women in Tech – Elisa Harca, Co-founder, Red Ant Asia

Leading women at Red Ant tell their stories and share their advice.

Background

At age 21 I set up a NYC event and fashion company, then went on to hold various roles in marketing/ digital/creative agencies. Through Red Ant I found my way to China and I’m now often called upon to share my expertise on starting and running a business in Asia. As well as being the co-founder and director of successful Red Ant offices in Hong Kong and Shanghai, I’m Vice Chair of the British Chamber of Commerce Hong Kong Luxury and Retail Committee, a non-exec director of a fast-growing restaurant brand in Asia and a qualified aerial yoga teacher.

Role

As co-founder and director I oversee the development and growth of the business in Asia, working with top brands such as Mango, LUSH, Lane Crawford, TRIWA and Charlotte Tilbury.

Greatest/most significant professional achievement

Setting up two offices in Asia at the same time and building them to 40 full time employees, becoming a non-exec director under the age of 40, and the fact that I’ve had careers in four major cities - NYC, London, Hong Kong and Shanghai.

One piece of advice for women in tech

Don't be put off by what you might not know, surround yourself with a team that is expert in areas you are not, and keep curious!
